Newsletter september 2008 :

Bodies and Records (“Corps et records”): a show to stretch you to the limit :

Mime artiste Christian Albouy and story-teller cum theatre director Laurent Rachou, recently performed their show « Corps et records » in the library at Lectoure. This show was a great success; we hope they’ll be putting it on again soon. The two accomplices made their astonished audience relive the most famous records in History, starting with the mythical ones of Hercules, right through famous sports records and the preposterous challenges of the Guinness Book of Records. Once again Christian Albouy has confirmed his innate sense of the gag. This newsletter will keep you informed of any future performances of this show – an opportunity not to be missed.

  « Night and fog » – a show in the making :

Christian Albouy, and Laurent Rachou, are collaborating on a new show called « Night and Fog ». It will deal in a sensitive way with the tragic and painful theme of the Shoah, by highlighting moments of silence through the use of choreography, gesture and the body. An evening where we remember those who have left us, suffered, returned or disappeared without a sound, leaving their torturers totally indifferent: a brave and worthy initiative by two sensitive artistes who want to prevent history from falling into oblivion.

Mime and creativity: a course you will learn a lot from :

At the start of this new school year, Christian Albouy is giving priority to training courses. Starting in September, he will be pulling out all the stops for his “Mime Clown” workshop which can be adapted for a whole range of groups – adults, children, elderly people, those with special needs as well as care workers/educators. It all starts with the question: “What are you doing on Sunday?” to make you want to find out more about this art that the mime artiste is so passionate about passing on.

Why not take the plunge ? You won’t regret it.
Spend a Sunday exploring in the gentlest way possible, all the gestures you’re capable of; rediscover gestures that are buried in your memory, and acquire new ways of expressing yourself. Christian Albouy will help you bring out your creativity step by step, treating everyone with the respect they deserve. The day-long programme includes a study of body movements, warm-up exercises, using pictures or music, short story creation (on you own or with the group), improvisation exercises and other activities to help you express your personal experiences. For the physical activity, you follow your own rhythm, alternating mime play and movements.
This is an experience not to be missed – guaranteed to please you!

  Mr. Bidule’s garden :

At the end of the school year, the inhabitants of Lapanouse were able to discover the communal garden put in place by the Lapanouse social centre. Children on their way from school along with their parents, were invited by Postman B. to head off towards the garden and take part in a mad escapade with clown acts, mime plays, children’s laughter and of course, a delicious snack.
The garden is run by the social centre, and the water used for watering the plants is provided by the town authorities.
It is being put at the disposal of the local population who may grow vegetables in it and share them in the context of the “World Cookery” workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to make everybody acquainted with dishes and cuisine from other countries and regions; it takes place one Friday a month in the Lapanouse Social Centre (Place de la Marne). For more information contact the« Centre Social de Lapanouse » at  05 63 60 86 11.
